Diocesan Survey:  Most of you received an e-mail from the Catholic Diocese of Richmond asking for your assistance in completing a survey for the Marketing Committee of the Diocesan Advisory School Board.  Those families who did not receive an e-mail should have received a letter with the same information.  We have been asked to remind families to take a moment and respond to the online survey.

Issue:  The security of the building with the K-2 door being unlocked during the school day

Mrs. Meadows has conducted a “walk-around” with a representative from the Danville Police Department.  The school community should be reminded that ‘lockable doors’ are only as secure as the people who use them.  Remember to close all doors securely as you exit the building through any doorways. The only ‘weak link’ is the access to the building through the door that the majority of our classes use to access the playground for recess.  The solution to this is already in progress.  Our security company has been requested to submit costs for both security cameras around the property, as well as a buzzer system to be installed at the K-2 door.  Once this figure has been determined and submitted to Mrs. Meadows, a grant application which will provide matching funds for the purchase and installation of the systems will be completed by Officer Fitzgerald of the Danville Police Department.  Until this becomes a reality, we will continue to monitor the door visually, as we have always done in the past.
