Elementary Spanish Classes
In grades K-5th Grade, students will learn the Spanish alphabet, numbers, basic greetings and common words and phrases. Students will have instruction once a week. Grades will be indicated by a "S"-satisfactory or "N" for non-satisfactory.
Students will engage in simple/short conversations, with a stress on correct pronunciation.
Students will write simple sentences.
Instruction will be given for correct word phrasing.
Students will be able to recognize parts of speech, gender subject agreement, and proper word endings.
Grado Ocho y Nueve
(8th & 9th grade)
This is an introductory Spanish class consisting of Spanish I and Spanish II. Students will learn the basic foundation to speaking, writing, listening and reading Spanish. Students will develop an understanding by learning verbs, grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills. As well as providing them with an introduction to the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

Attendance/Late Work
Attendance is vital for success in this course because of great portion of the learning will occur during class activities. Homework will support and reinforce what we do in class, but regular attendance is required to really learn the language. Late Homework will be deducted 5 points off for every day it is late. Exams and Quizzes will not be able to makeup unless they have an excused absence. If absent, students need to get with their homework buddy to get what he/she missed for the day, if needed the teacher will review as well.
Participation
Participation is very crucial to learning Spanish. Each student should participate in the form of asking questions, commenting, taking notes, paying attention and supporting other students.
Expectations
Complete all assignments on time
Come to class on time, prepared; having done all assignments and readings, with all supplies and ready to participate.
Be considerate of your classmates, do no insult others.
Oral Activities: Students will talk as long as possible.
I will grade their oral activities on the following: Fluency, Transition, Logical sequencing, Range of Vocabulary, Structure, and Pronunciation.
Writing Activities
There will be various written assignments required throughout the year. These may include written exercises, compositions. They will be graded on grammar, vocabulary, the use of verb tenses and subject agreement.
Final Project:
The final project will consist of researching a country in Latin America or Spain and giving us a detailed presentation in Spanish of the major cities, population, food, currency, climate and finally the education, government and transportation system of the country. They will have to talk for 10 minutes in Spanish using all the vocabulary and the grammar that the student learned all year. The finally project will be due the last week of April.

7th Grade: Monday & Friday 1:19-2:08
Goals:

· Interprets idiomatic expressions
· Understanding of grammar
· Demonstrates ability to compose compositions on certain topics that will be discussed
· Recognizes parts of a sentence including spelling, grammar, and punctuation and finally
· Gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures
