Quarter grades are determined by averaging daily grades with chapter test and project grades. The daily grades are averaged and will count 2/3 of the quarter grade. The test and project grades are averaged and will count 1/3 of the quarter grade. All work is expected to be turned in on time. Homework assignments will be expected during homeroom. Graded assignments may be accepted late. The students will lose 5 points per day that the assignment is late. Mrs. Crumpler will not ask for the assignment after the first day. The end of the chapter review is not accepted late because the class needs to discuss the information for the upcoming test. If we reach the end of the quarter and an assignment has not been turned in, the student will receive a 0 for that assignment. There will be opportunities for extra credit with each chapter. Students will also receive extra credit for returning signed tests in a timely manner. Students in grades 8 and 9 will take an exam each semester. Each exam grade will be averaged with the quarter grades to determine a semester average. The quarter grades will each count 40% and the exam grade will be 20% of the semester average. If you would like to see the papers as we are working on a chapter, please ask your child about those. They should be keeping them in their binder so that they can use the papers to study for upcoming tests. All chapter grades will be listed in the folder when it comes home. The folders will only be sent home when a chapter is completed.
