What We Offer
At SHS, we firmly believe in educating the whole child. As a result, a myriad of opportunities are offered so that every child will succeed and grow in a Christ-Centered learning environment.
The student body is governed by a student-elected government. The SCA officers and representatives lead the school in making policy and acting as a voice of the students.
All students at SHS are enrolled in classes that challenge the learner. Teachers are trained in differentiated instruction which enables students to have multiple options for taking in information and making sense of ideas, thus ensuring that every student succeeds. Junior High students participate in college preparatory classes which prepare them not only for high school, but also for college-level courses. Many students, after completing their time at SHS, go on to take college-level courses in high school and rank in the top 20 of their graduating class.
SHS has invested in the students by investing in technology. Over the past year, every classroom has been equipped with at least one new PC. In addition, SHS touts two state-of-the-art computer labs that are used daily in grades K through Nine. Students are taught basic computing skills in the lower grades and progress to learning advanced skills such as web design.
Students are offered journalism as an elective. The journalism staff publishes quarterly newspapers that are available on the SHS website. The staff also publishes the yearbook. Students learn advanced writing techniques, as well as basic web publishing.
