Fall Book Fair!!!!  Our fall book fair is less than a month away!  The fair will begin on Sept. 27 and end on Oct. 1. A volunteer form will be sent out next week.  As usual, we need volunteers to help work the fair, set it up, and help take it down.  Without all of your support, our book fairs would not be successful.  Let's make it a super fair because…. "Reading Saves the Day!”

                                                                                                                     

SHS Cheerleaders Supporting a Worthy Cause:  Our 2010-2011 Squad, under the leadership of Mrs. Summer Barnett, will be participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk Now-Virginia event planned for September 11 at Dan Daniel Memorial Park.  Please support this effort by visiting the website, www.jdrf.org, and help sponsor the squad’s participation or create your own team!  We have several individual students and teachers who are planning to walk, so come out and support this worthwhile cause!  Students in grades 5 to 9 who are interested in participating in the JDRF Walk for community service, please see Mrs. Crumpler this week.  The walk will be here soon, and you need time to collect donations.

 

Many thanks to our wonderful PTO!!!  Our school playground is now a safer place for our students due to the new load of mulch that was purchased with PTO funds last month.  The many PTO beautification projects around the school are so very much appreciated.  We are so blessed to have such active parent support here at SHS! 

 

PTO Meeting: The first PTO Board Meeting for the 2010-2011 school year will be held on Friday morning, Sept. 10 at 8:15 in the church conference room!

 

SMILE!!!!!!  School Pictures will be held on Monday, Sept. 13 for all grades. Students may be out of uniform for their pictures; however, they are expected to dress neatly.

 

Support the Raiders!!!!!  The Raiders (Volleyball and Soccer teams) will travel to Halifax Middle School this Thursday!  Our teams will play Halifax Middle School here at home on Tuesday, September 7^, at 4:30 PM.  Please come out and support our athletic program at SHS!

 

School Advisory Board Meeting: The SHS Advisory Board will meet on Wednesday, September 8, at 4:15 in the church conference room.
