Meet Mrs. Scarce
Hi! My name is Mrs. Scarce (pronounced just like the word in the dictionary and NOT like this...Scare-us), which many of the children mispronounce.
I taught Kindergarten for 5 years in Chesapeake, VA. When I moved to Danville in 1980, I taught first and second grade at G.L.H. Johnson School over a period of 19 years. I have been a teacher at Sacred Heart for 12years now and tell everyone that I have died and gone to heaven. This is the place to be!
I have been married 29 years to a man that I was friends with while at ODU. We have a 26 year old daughter who works for CVS as a pharmacy tech assistant. My 24 year old son is attending ODU and graduates this spring as a Physical Education teacher.
My favorite past time is riding my Paso Fino horse, Salsa. This is where I regain my peace of mind, body and soul. I also have one dog named Missy and she is a Sheltie.
If for any reason that you need to contact me, you can do so through the school at 793-2656. When given your message, I will return your call as soon as I can. I am also available most every day after school until 3:30. Just let me know when you would like to come in and talk.
Philosophy
It is the responsibility of a teacher to meet each child's individual and educational needs to their fullest potential. The overall atmosphere of my classroom is one where you will see children engaged in learning, whether it be instructional, hands-on or in cooperative learning groups.
