Dear Parents,

Welcome back after a much needed break! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to an exciting new year.

After reassessing, I decided to review with some of the students word study skills that were not used when writing unfamiliar words. It is always best to review instead of moving forward without mastery. The goal is for the students to always use the learned skills in their writing.

Please remember to read the library books with your child so he/she can take an AR test either during snack in the classroom or in the computer lab on Fridays. This quarter the students’ goal will be 5 points.

The Topic 9 test will be given this Friday (January 11). I will send home the quick checks on Thursday. I will give extra points for completing the Test and Retest worksheet.

This is the first quarter your child will be earning number and letter grades. This will be an adjustment for all of us! Just remember, I give a lot of credit for participation. Therefore, the final grades on the report card will reflect both grades earned and participation.

I would like to thank you for the Christmas gifts. The most precious gift you have given me is the opportunity to spend time with your child and watch him/her grow spiritually, emotionally, socially, and academically. What a blessing!
