From the Principal

The best form of advertising is 'word of mouth'.  Please help us spread the word about the great things going on here at SHS!  Your dedication to SHS makes the difference between just a good school and a phenomenal school!

Faculty News

We are busy planning for the 2010-2011 school year, and there are some faculty and staff changes we would like to share with you at this time.

We welcome Mrs. Gail Ferrell, who will be teaching English in grades 7-9.  Mrs. Ferrell currently serves as adjunct faculty at both DCC and National College, and she holds a Master's Degree in English.

Ms. Taylor Poirier, a recent graduate of Averett University, has taken on the reins of both Athletic Director and Physical Education for grades PK-9.

Mrs. Kim Snow returns to us as part of the 2nd/3rd grade teaching team.  We were just informed by Mrs. Kania that, due to personal family obligations, she needed to step away from a full-time teaching commitment.  We are delighted to welcome Mrs. Snow "back home" to SHS and, while we will miss Mrs. Kania, she will still be around serving as a sub when needed, as well as a parent volunteer with our math program.

We continue to seek a Spanish teacher for the 2010-2011.

Enjoy your summer, and remind your children to read, read, read!!!!

The class will no longer be printing any hard copies for distribution. What a great way to save money on printing costs, as well as give our students first-hand experience with on-line publishing.  The Journalism Class hopes that you enjoy this new publication form!
